{"id":41897,"date":"2025-12-03T14:29:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T03:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/?post_type=article&#038;p=41897"},"modified":"2026-02-04T11:20:41","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T00:20:41","slug":"infrabuild-tests-its-sustainable-steel-product-for-use-in-future-wind-farms","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/our-stories\/infrabuild-tests-its-sustainable-steel-product-for-use-in-future-wind-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"InfraBuild tests its sustainable steel product for use in future wind farms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">InfraBuild is conducting testing on its sustainable steel product SENSE 600\u00ae as it looks to increase involvement in the renewables sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developed and manufactured locally using 100 per cent scrap in InfraBuild&#8217;s Electric Arc Furnaces, SENSE 600\u00ae delivers the equivalent load capacity whilst using &nbsp;up to 16.7 per cent less raw materials and reducing embodied carbon by up to 39 per cent when compared to our standard Grade 500N reinforcing bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SENSE 600\u00ae&nbsp; has already been successfully used within major reinforced concrete constructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">InfraBuild has been supplying steel to renewable energy projects for close to two decades and is also able to assist in the recycling of old wind farms as part of its circularity model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of the new testing of SENSE 600\u00ae&nbsp;is to assess its use in wind tower bases, further enhancing InfraBuild&#8217;s offering to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technical Engineering Manager, Innovation Amir Hassanieh is leading the research and says the team has spent the last 18 months working with Monash University on rebar axial fatigue testing to explore the fatigue performance of the SENSE 600\u00ae&nbsp;range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The findings so far support the use of SENSE 600\u00ae&nbsp;in wind farm applications where reinforcing steel is subject to frequent stress cycles far in excess of those in typical construction projects,&#8221; Amir said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Using our more sustainable steel products in renewable projects is a natural next step for a company which is focused on value adding to its steel products and its decarbonisation efforts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">InfraBuild aims to complete the first phase of testing in the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/07\/wind-farm.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>InfraBuild is testing its lower embodied carbon SENSE 600 steel for use in wind tower bases, building on two decades of renewable project supply and ongoing research with Monash University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":179,"featured_media":39578,"menu_order":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":""},"tags":[240],"business_division":[220],"class_list":["post-41897","article","type-article","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-sense","business_division-sense-solutions"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.2 (Yoast SEO v28.2) -
