{"id":38627,"date":"2025-04-28T13:25:32","date_gmt":"2025-04-28T03:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/?page_id=38627"},"modified":"2025-12-12T10:17:48","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T23:17:48","slug":"warm-charging","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/sustainability\/warm-charging\/","title":{"rendered":"Warm Charging"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/\">Home<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n\n<h2>\n\t\t\tWarm Charging delivers one Green Star point using InfraBuild manufactured reinforcing products\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>In March 2022, the GBCA acknowledged that our Warm Charging technique qualified as a valid Energy-Reducing Process (ERP), which delivers one Green Star point in the GBCA &#8216;Design &amp; As Built&#8217; tools from the use of reinforcing products made using InfraBuild manufactured steel. The formal notification is in GBCA FAQ 256:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gbca.org.au\/faqs.asp?action=details&amp;faqId=256\">Green Star FAQs &#8211; Green Building Council Australia (GBCA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Warm Charging involves minimising the time between a billet being cast at InfraBuild&#8217;s EAFs at Laverton and Rooty Hill, and when it enters the rolling mills at those sites, when the billet is rolled into reinforcing bar, rod or wire products.<\/p>\n<p>During rolling, the billet must be hot enough to be rolled into the final shapes. This is achieved by placing it in a gas-fired reheat furnace. At the stage it enters the reheat furnace, different billets can vary in temperature, which makes a difference to the time they need to sit in the reheat furnace.<\/p>\n<p>When done consistently and effectively, Warm Charging can deliver significant savings in gas use and carbon emissions by minimising the time between a billet being cast and when it enters the reheat furnace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A third-party, independently verified update is done annually on our use of Warm Charging, based on the completed financial year&#8217;s use of Warm Charging, to ensure we continue to meet the GBCA&#8217;s requirements.\u00a0 The successful verification is reflected in our annual ERP Certificate, available below.\u00a0 The ERP Certificate is a retrospective certification that covers the previous financial year.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative forms part of InfraBuild&#8217;s goal to be a low emission steel maker by 2030.\u00a0 Our use of Warm Charging is a deliberate choice that helps reduce your Scope 3 GHG emissions and further assists you to improve the sustainability credentials of your projects.<\/p>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/12\/SSA-Certificate-2025-2.png\" alt=\"SSA Certificate 2025 (2)\" height=\"600\" width=\"600\" title=\"SSA Certificate 2025 (2)\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.infrabuild.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/12\/Certificate_EnergyReduction2025.pdf\"  target=\"_self\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tView the 2025 ERP Certificate\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Warm Charging delivers one Green Star point using InfraBuild manufactured reinforcing products In March 2022, the GBCA acknowledged that our Warm Charging technique qualified as a valid Energy-Reducing Process (ERP), which delivers one Green Star point in the GBCA &#8216;Design &amp;
